Sand Ocean is a desolate planet whose entire surface is covered in sand dunes.[1] This planet's extremely arid frontier planet was thought to have been completely void of human life for many years. However, F-Zero GX revealed that ruins of a 30,000 year-old civilization was found deep within the desert along with a monstrous alien lifeform by a fearless adventurer. This resulted in the planet becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the galaxy.[2]

Appearance in the games

Sand Ocean appeared as the third course in the original F-Zero game as part of the Knight Cup. It is a somewhat medium sized track with a lot of sharp turns.

BS F-Zero

The title of this section is official, but it comes from a non-English source.

If an official name from an English source is found and it is different from the current title, the section should be moved to the appropriate location.

In BS F-Zero Grand Prix and BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2, under the name Sand Storm, this game features two tracks, which Sand Storm II features winds similar to that of Death Wind. Sand Storm I features music that plays in Fire Field and Sand Storm II features music from Death Wind.

F-Zero X

In F-Zero X, it appears three times: once as a simple pipe course, once as an undulating course with a tunnel and once as a cylinder course with two loops.

F-Zero GX

It also appears twice in F-Zero GX. Surface Slide is a basic track with "S" turns. Lateral Shift requires the player to shift their machine to the left or right to avoid falling off the course.

F-Zero GP Legend

Sand Ocean appears three times in this game. The track "Sand Ocean" from the original F-Zero makes an appearance in the Platinum Cup. There are two new tracks: Caterpillar and Caterpillar II. Caterpillar appears in the Silver Cup Novice and Standard difficulty while Caterpillar II appears on Expert Difficulty.

F-Zero Climax

Key Break

The Key Break tracks feature sand storms with winds similar to that of Death Wind.
