FZFW:Lucy Liberty

Template:AnimeverseOnly Template:Character Lucy Liberty is the pilot of the Elegance Liberty. She is a F-Zero fangirl who is very knowledgeable of machines, and after Ryu Suzaku and Captain Falcon saved her and her friends on the planet Nintese, she became an apprentice to Dr. Clash in the Mobile Task Force.

Personality

Lucy is generally upbeat, kindhearted, and knowledgeable. She truly means well with her actions, as she helped Gomar & Shioh finish their machine without knowing of their ulterior motives in Lap 19, and when she withheld a data chip from Ryu as she feared it was a trap that Miss Killer set up in Lap 48. Lucy did end up giving it to Ryu upon realizing the chip truly contained information vital to helping him and the Mobile Task Force.

Though she did end up scolding Gomar and Shioh, and sometimes even Ryu or Jack Levin, it is not comparable to her sudden change exclusively during Lap 21. Lucy has a hidden vengeful side, primarily caused by Miss Killer referring to Lucy as useless and ignoring Lucy throughout the race. As seen in Lap 21, Lucy decides to "go all out" and unleash a barrage of missiles from her machine, aimed at Miss Killer's Moon Shadow. Although her leader, Jody Summer, demands Lucy to stand down, Lucy's priorities are no longer staying in the race but to exact revenge. However, she eventually calms down and such an instance is never spoken of nor referenced in later episodes.

History

F-Zero Farukon Densetsu (Anime)

2201

Lucy Liberty made her first appearance in Lap 2 - Captain Falcon. On the way to an F-Zero race on the planet Nintese, she was on a bus with her friends before it was attacked by a gang. Ryu Suzaku would intercept this but it was Captain Falcon who sent the gang into a retreat. After finding out that Ryu was the pilot of the Dragon Bird in the race, Lucy revealed that she wanted to join the Mobile Task Force.

She appeared once more for the race on the planet Clifoto in Lap 3, as Jody Summer introduced Lucy as Dr. Clash's designated apprentice. Lucy was made into an official member after she managed to prove herself.

During Lap 12, Lucy was the winner of the Christmas Cup on Outer Space's Meteor Stream track. However, she was crowned the winner only because she was the racer closest to the finish line when the Committee cancelled the race due to meteors damaging the track.

2202

Along the way, Lucy harbored a crush on Ryu. Her feelings for Ryu were enough to heavily influence her decisions, as she was swayed by Gomar and Shioh's special items that would supposedly have a number of effects in her favor during Lap 19; a bag of rocks that were advertised as "miracle crystals" to help her lose weight, a chalice that would also supposedly help her lose weight, a diet helmet, a "dream fulfilling pot," a pair of "magic shoes," a "super quilt," and the scamming duo's own brand of tea.

She ultimately confronted the duo in their building, and stumbled upon the two having an argument over the design of their machine. They then explained to Lucy, with a presumably false tragic backstory, that they grew up as poor orphans and had always wanted to race in F-Zero. Lucy believed them and decided to help in designing the Twin Noritta, not knowing of the duo's true motive to win an F-Zero race and become the greatest villains in the galaxy. Though the truth was eventually known to Lucy by the end of the episode, she still treated them kindly but encouraged them to do better, and that some day they would make it big as F-Zero pilots.

Although she did supposedly get over Ryu, calling him "an idiot," she still harbored feelings for him afterwards.

Additionally, despite Leon's crush on her in Lap 27 - Beast Hunter, Lucy did not seem to regard him above the level of friendship, and it was short lived as Leon left Mute City by the end of the episode.

Despite Lucy's usual sweet nature, the Ladies Race showed a more devious and twisted side when provoked, willing to get disqualified so long as she could get revenge on Miss Killer with missiles. This was the only time this side of her was seen, and it was never mentioned again.

During Lap 48, Miss Killer handed Lucy a data chip, desperately pleading for it to reach Ryu, as it contained information pertaining to the Reactor Mights.

At the Falcon House during Lap 49, Lucy also placed her feelings for Ryu aside when it came down to helping him reunite with his girlfriend. She assured Jack Levin that she would be fine with the decision, to which he responded by saying she was "a good woman."

She was also there during the final battle with Dark Million, piloting her Elegance Liberty.
