FZFW:O'Donnell
Template:AnimeverseOnly Template:Character O'Donnell is a minor character in the F-Zero Farukon Densetsu anime. He was James McCloud's former partner in the army sometime before the events of Lap 33 - James McCloud, and died after trying to buy time for McCloud to escape after their rescue ship had crashed.

Not much is given about O'Donnell, other than being close friends with James McCloud in the army before the events of Lap 33. After he, along with McCloud, were called forth on a rescue mission (as Rescue 01), their ship was shot down by enemy soldiers and ended up crashing.
O'Donnell, taking note of his injured partner, helped McCloud to a safer location. However, they were still under enemy fire. O'Donnell then called for another rescue ship, but was met with Rescue 02 saying that the battle was over and that they would be breaking the apparent treaty if they didn't withdraw.
As Rescue 02 left the duo stranded in a trench, O'Donnell grew frustrated and ran into the enemy fire, attempting to buy time for McCloud to escape the battlefield. McCloud was able to, at the cost of losing trust in the world after losing his friend.
Trivia
- O'Donnell's name is a reference to Wolf O'Donnell, a character from the Star Fox series who is the leader of Star Wolf, a rival unit to the eponymous team.
- Interestingly, while James McCloud and O'Donnell were army partners in the anime, their Star Fox counterparts are revealed to have fought one another during at least one dogfight years before the events of Star Fox Zero.[1]
