Antonio Guster is the pilot of the Green Panther, and was formerly part of Samurai Goroh's Space Bandits.

History

F-Zero Farukon Densetsu (Anime)

Pre-2202

Antonio Guster, also known as "The Powder Keg Of The Galaxy" due to his experience with explosives, was Samurai Goroh's partner, resulting in the duo being known throughout the galaxy as the "Dynamite Pair."

2202 (Presumably)

Antonio appeared in Lap 13 - Justice. After Goroh and his crew boarded a transport ship to steal its goods, they bumped into Octoman, Bio Rex, and The Skull from Dark Million. Although the bandits made quick work of the Dark Million henchmen, and eventually escaped, Antonio decided to leave them with a parting gift and set off a detonator.

While no one was seemingly harmed, Goroh, on board the Fire Needle with his crew, told Antonio he had gone too far. He called for Antonio to take time off from the bandit crew for some time, but Antonio uttered a remark before leaving, saying that Goroh wouldn't be half the bandit he is without him (Antonio).

Ryu Suzaku of the Elite Mobile Task Force decided to look into the transport ship incident. Dark Million had also come across Antonio again on the planet Cryton, convincing him to join them.

During the F-Zero race later on, Antonio carried out his grudge against Goroh, fueled further by Dark Million. Ryu Suzaku, who had gone to question Goroh about his alleged action of destroying the transport ship, would deduce that it was not Goroh who was responsible, but Antonio. As Antonio set off detonators along the track to get revenge on Goroh, Ryu got himself involved and managed to stop Antonio from setting off another. A brief confrontation between the three pilots ended with Goroh and Antonio parting ways.

F-Zero GP Legend (GBA game)

In the F-Zero GP Legend GBA game, Antonio is a playable character with his machine, the Green Panther. Though he is not a main Story Mode character, he does appear in Lisa Brilliant and Samurai Goroh's routes as the one who poisoned Goroh, and the one who makes a deal with Lisa about regaining her memory.

Due to the game being released only 8 episodes into the anime's original JP airtime, and the game being loosely based on the anime, the Story Mode is not canon. In the English version, Antonio refers to Lisa as "big sis," but they do not have a familial relation in the original Japanese version.

Note: See Trivia section for details about the "big sis" localization.

(DeepL Translation): Once the right-hand man of Samurai Goroh, he is now a lone wolf in the galaxy at odds with Goroh, and wants revenge against him. His goal is to beat Goroh in the F-Zero Grand Prix, in front of many fans across the galaxy.

Trivia

  • Because of the English localization in the F-Zero GP Legend GBA game, many fans believed Lisa Brilliant was the older sister of Antonio Guster. In the JP version, the term "anesan" is used, clarifying that is is merely a referral of rank within the Space Bandits, and not an actual sibling referral.[2] The F-Zero GP Legend GBA game is also the only time such a thing ever comes up.
